Sending Reiki to Tsunami & Earthquake Affected Areas: How You Can Help from Afar
At 3:27 that morning, the earth moved, literally. An earthquake struck near Russia, and tsunami warnings soon followed. Thousands of lives were shaken, and even from far away, I felt that familiar ache in my chest. What can I do from here?
Like many Reiki practitioners, my instinct was to reach out. I posted in several Reiki groups, hoping we could gather our collective energy for the highest good. But sometimes the world is quiet, perhaps due to time zones or maybe everyone was still asleep. And as I waited, one thing became clear: Reiki was needed, now.
So, I sent it anyway.
With hands open, heart steady, I activated the symbols and offered Reiki to all beings in the affected areas, with the pure intention that it be received only by those who wished to accept it. I even set an intention for the waters themselves, asking for calm, asking that the tsunami waves slow, soften, spare. It was the only thing I knew to do in that moment, a small act of light in the darkness.
Symbols I Used
Every practitioner has their own approach, but here’s what felt right in this situation:
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (HSZSN) – To bridge the distance and send healing where my hands could not reach.
Cho Ku Rei (CKR) – To amplify the flow of energy and offer strength and protection.
Sei He Ki (SHK) – To help soothe fear, trauma, and grief for all living beings in the area.
Dai Ko Myo (DKM) – To bathe the entire region in deep, unconditional light.
Intentions I Set
When words fail, intention carries weight. I focused on thoughts like:
“May all beings here feel comforted, supported, and held in love.”
“May panic and suffering ease, and hope take its place.”
“May the waters calm and the earth rest.”
I visualised the coastline wrapped in golden light, the waves settling, and every living soul embraced in peace and safety.
The earthquake may have passed, but the need for healing continues. If you feel called, join me. Wherever you are, take a quiet moment, activate your symbols, and send Reiki to this region and others in need. Offer it freely, with love, allowing it to be received by those who need it most.
When many of us hold the same intention, it strengthens the energy we send. Together, we can weave a blanket of comfort and compassion that travels farther than we could ever go ourselves.
Because sometimes, even when the world shakes, the light we share can help it settle again.
